The United Football League announced its schedule for the coming season on Thursday, and a new feature is a Friday night game to be televised by Fox (KTVI, Channel 2 locally) in each of the 10 weeks of the regular season. That adds to the roster of sporting events the network shows on Fridays, after doing so with college football in the fall and now college basketball this winter.
The Battlehawks, who led the league in attendance and local television ratings last year — as they previously did for their season and a half in the XFL — have been selected for four Friday appearances (two at home), starting with their game on March 28 in Houston. That will be the UFL’s season opener.
The B-hawks’ home opener is set for April 6, a Sunday, when they face San Antonio at 5:30 p.m. That’s the team that knocked the Battlehawks out of the playoffs last season.
The Battlehawks have an extra home game this season, as they will face San Antonio twice in the Dome at America’s Center because of the lack of available dates in the Alamodome, the Brahmas’ home stadium.
All UFL games again will be available on over-the-air or cable television networks (Fox, ABC ESPN, ESPN2, and FS1). None will be exclusively streamed.
