ST. LOUIS COUNTY — A Manchester man early Friday was struck and killed on Interstate 70 as a car swerved to avoid several vehicles that had previously crashed.
The crash happened a few minutes after midnight just west of Earth City in the highway's westbound lanes, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the driver of a Volkswagen Tiguan swerved to avoid about four cars in the road that had previously crashed. Those crashes injured seven people, according to online police records.
The SUV then hit the pedestrian, a 32-year-old man.
The highway patrol would not release the man's name, but on Saturday the St. Louis County medical examiner's office identified him as Jesus Acosta Diaz.
