ST. LOUIS COUNTY — The mother of the victim in a fatal shooting in Ferguson described herself as “lost and confused” after learning her son’s friend is charged in his death.
Kimistry Victorious-Love said Monday her son, Ramone-Kaleb Henderson, and Clarence Brown knew each other from school and the two 19-year-olds had been friends for about five years.
Victorious-Love said she didn’t know of any problems the two may have had, and her son usually didn’t get mixed up in trouble.
“I don’t understand why he would do that,” she said of Brown. “They were good friends.”
Police said they found Henderson dead in an abandoned vehicle Saturday after a shootout in the parking lot of the Schnucks at 49 South Florissant Road in Ferguson.
On Sunday, prosecutors charged Brown, of the 2700 block of Radcliffe Drive in Florissant, with second-degree murder, first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.

Ferguson police said they responded to a shooting at the Schnucks parking lot at 12:15 p.m. Saturday and witnessed several individuals running away.
At South Clark Avenue and Carson Road, a Ferguson officer located a disabled vehicle with Henderson inside it, dead from at least one gunshot wound. Gunfire was then aimed in the officer’s direction, and the officer took cover behind the vehicle.
More police arrived, and Brown was found at the scene and taken into custody.
Detectives with St. Louis County Police Bureau of Crimes Against Persons later took over the case and said Brown admitted to setting up a robbery “during a gun transaction.”
A complaint filed against Brown on Sunday alleged Brown stole a Glock 9 mm handgun in possession of another individual. Sgt. Tracy Panus with St. Louis County police said the target of the robbery is still part of the investigation.
Victorious-Love said her son was a kind and optimistic young man who had dreams of becoming an entrepreneur. He had started his own clothing brand of T-shirts and jackets called B*D*SZ Original.
“He was a lovely kid,” Victorious-Love said.
Brown was being held without bond as of Monday afternoon.
