CLAYTON — A man on Thursday was charged with shooting and killing his dad in Overland.
Court documents say Devon Stabler on Dec. 18 was upset about family issues and confronted his dad, James Stabler, while armed with a gun inside the family's home.
Overland police wrote that Devon Stabler pushed his father, 66, to the ground, injuring the man's hip.
The confrontation continued into the home's living room where Stabler shot his father four times with a pistol, police wrote in charging documents.
Devon Stabler's mother called 911 and dispatchers said they heard Devon Stabler say he was going to jail and telling his mom she could die, too.

Police said Devon Stabler told them he shot his dad because James Stabler had shot a nail gun at his mother. Devon Stabler's mother told police this did not happen, court documents say.
The day after the shooting, Devon Stabler's mother was granted an order of protection against her son.
Stabler was arrested Dec. 20 when prosecutors say his mother came home and found him in a bed with two long rifles.
Devon Stabler is in custody on a $500,000 bond.
