I am so tired of the Democrats being blamed for the existentially disastrous election of Donald Trump. The editorial "Some honesty (at last) about Biden's decline would help Democrats move on" (Dec. 27) claims that "Biden and his circle have long been lying to the American people about his cognitive fitness." It went on to state that Biden shouldn't have run for re-election.
The fault does not lie with the Democrats, or with Biden or with the fact that Kamala Harris didn't have enough time to convince voters with a "normal primary." Harris' loss should be blamed on one phenomenon: the ignorance of the American electorate.
Trump gave us all the proof that was needed to vote against him. The Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, his continuing denial that the election in 2020 was valid, his inept handling of the COVID epidemic, his indictments — it goes on and on. His poor performance as president should have been enough proof that he should not have gone near the White House ever again.

The fact is that women voted for him against their own interests. So did Latinos, young people, Black citizens, legal immigrants, union members and of course the apathetic who decry "politics" and regard Fox as their primary source of information.
All the information necessary was there during Harris' effective and passionate campaign. It seems that stupidity will reign supreme in America. It leaves me so disappointed in my countrymen and women.
