ST. LOUIS — A St. Peters man was sentenced Thursday to 14 years in prison by U.S. District Judge Sarah Pitlyk for selling fentanyl that killed a woman in 2019 and sent another to the hospital.
Zachary Hovis, 24, had pleaded guilty last June to two counts of distribution of fentanyl.
The U.S. attorney's office in St. Louis said in a news release that Hovis had provided fentanyl to an 18-year-old woman in the parking lot of a country club in Weldon Spring.
The victim then drove to the lot of a nearby business, where she was found unconscious about an hour and 15 minutes later. She later died.
The release said Hovis also supplied fentanyl the same day to a woman who was treated at a hospital and released.
